Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Determination Category A: Elected Leaders

Under the Salaries and Remuneration Act, a Secretariat is established within the Parliamentary Service, that is responsible for the Commission.

The Secretariat is administered by ex-officio by the Clerk of Parliament under the direction of the Speaker. The Clerk of Parliament may employ such number and classification of persons and provide such facilities as he thinks are necessary or sufficient for the proper execution of the functions of the Secretariat.

The functions of the Secretariat are to:-

  • Supervise and monitor the determination of salaries, allowances and benefits (financial and otherwise) made in accordance with Division VIII.1A of the constitution and SRC Act by the Parliament,
  • Carry out research for and provide information and advice to the Commission on the benefits and entitlements of persons covered by the SRC determination.
  • Keep records and documents of the Commission.
  • Carry out general administrative and secretarial duties pertaining to the Commission and as directed by the Speaker.
  • Prepare reports on SRC determinations, for tabling in Parliament on the benefits and entitlements of persons covered by the SRC Determinations.
